Hi,

Let me start with praise for your effort, really loved the Bard's tales.

I am not sure if it is a bug, but I don't completely understand it either so am bringing it up anyway:

I have a warrior whose Thac0 is lower then the Thac0 of my paladin while they have comparable stats and equipment:

Warrior: Female Barbarian Lvl 5 St19, Dx13, Cn18 IQ7. Lk14. Thac0 = 30% Bronze Morningstar
Paladin: Male Dwarf lvl5 St18, Dx18, Cn20, IQ19, Lk9. Thac0 = 50% Bronze Morningstar

Thats a difference of 20% or 4 points on a d20. In stats that is a 8 points difference. Can it be that Thac0 is also dependant on Lk and IQ? That would explain the difference, but from a D&D perspective does not make sense.

Thanks for looking into this

Hello Magabeus,

your warrior has a DX of 13, your paladin has a DX of 18. Each point above 14 will give you +1 (5%) on your THAC0. That's 4 points difference in this example.

If you have any further questions, I am glad to help! Thank you very much for enjoying the game!

Regards
Mario

And to think I did not really bother about Dx in my warrior and paladin when creating them!

That's what I get for having played AD&D so much: I just could not get my head around the idea that Dx could be important (other then a +1 on armor) when engaging in melee combat.

Well, sorry for the confusion then. It was strength in (A)D&D, right? But don't worry, you will get the chance of increasing your dexterity (with the full version).

Mario

it was / is strength in (A)D&D indeed (at least upto 3.5).

Did you just imply that I can adjust my current characters when the full version comes out? That would be great support!

uhm not really ;-)

But you may use your characters from the lite version and continue to play them.
With every level there is a chance of increasing your dexterity.
Not a big help, I know - but at least a glimmer of hope.

One thing I can offer is: send me a save game and I will exchange the stats ;-)

Regards
Mario

Hi Mario

No way, that would feel like cheating! (thanks for the offer though)

I am currently leveling a warrior with good dex, in xp he will lag a bit behind the other characters.
In Bard's tale i always had some characters who were lagging because of early deaths and no money to resurrect. So in the end you have managed to make my Silversword experience just one bit more similar to my BT experience

I am eagerly awaiting the full version, kind regards,

Magabeus
