FORUM: Bug Reports

This topic was started by Utopian on 07/02/2016, 05:42:59

When I go in to the settings the game screen stays as well as the settings appearing. I use an iPhone 6 and latest update however it's been like this for a while.

Hi,

can you please send a screenshot of your settings screen to
?

Thank you very much
kind regards
Mario

Done

Thank you!

I see, it relates to the accessibility functions. Will try to fix it.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

kind regards
Mario

Thank you.

This is still happening

You are right and I am very sorry about this.
I haven't been able to solve that problem yet, no matter what I tried.
I can turn off the accessibility elements in the main screen upon entering the Settings screen - but I am not able to turn them back on when you leave the Settings screen. At this point, I'm stuck.

Perhaps I will find a solution to this when I get in contact with other developers that already have developed accessible applications.

Kind regards
Mario

All good

Is there any news for this?

I think I have found a solution.
Will go live with 2.6.8

Mario

Thank you 8-)

I just downloaded the update and none of the buttons work in the settings screen including the return to game button

this is more than strange.

I just activated VoiceOver, started the game, and went to the settings screen.
All buttons had accessibility labels and could be activated by double-tapping.

Is there anything else I need to know/setup in order to reproduce the problem?

kind regards
Mario

Actually the buttons do seem to work but the screen remains the same apart from the return to game button, it does work if no buttons were pressed before it but the game screen is then arranged weirdly.
Clicking the shop button does nothing but then clicking the English button gives the success alert of buying the expansion.
No other buttons seem to do anything though

I'm using an iPhone 7 still on iOS 11.3.1 I think, also playing in Legin mode

Hi Utopian,

I will try to find a solution.

kind regards
Mario

Thank you, in the meantime is it possible to revert to the former virsion

If I am not mistaken, you can choose a former version from the AppStore by yourself.

I don't seem to be able to and can't find how to online without a bunch of complications.

I think I know what's wrong though

Did you fix the labels in the screens accessible from settings such as the shop and savinging menus or only the labels on the buttons to open them?

Please hang on, a new version is on the way.

thankyou 8-)

It's all working now
Thanks again 8-)

There's one small new problem, after picking a lock the game screen is all messed up

It seems I‘ve missed that, very sorry.
Will try to fix it!

That's fine, thanks

Sad news, folks.

With the next Update (2.7.0) VoiceOver support for Silversword will end. Over the past years I was urged by different people to add VoiceOver support to some of the game elements so that it became playable on a very individual basis. That lead to the situation that Silversword is now promoted as a game for visually impaired people. But that was never intended. Silversword is NOT a no-brainer for people who are looking for accessible games. Nothing was designed with accessibility in mind when I developed it. The bottom line is that the game now gets bad reviews from blind people because expectations aren’t met.

The User Interface as it is now can’t be made accessible in a way that pleases the majority of the visually impaired players. The whole concept of the map and other elements would need to be changed and the program code would need to be rewritten completely – this is something that I will not do.

I am sorry that this will impact players that already bought the game. To compensate for this, the functions that are already in the game won’t change. But I will add a clear notice to the game description that the game is not meant to be played by visually impaired people and I won’t support any request regarding the Voice Over functions in the future.

Kind regards
Mario

ok

Could updating the game risk breaking the accessibility and is the any opoint buying the flooded isles expansion when released?

I don't think so.
