FORUM: Bug Reports

This topic was started by mike32 on 07/01/2012, 09:55:58

I'm fighting 2 groups of ennemies.

On the first one, i ask my melee characters to attack and to my mages to cast damage spells at them.
The first group of ennemies is killed.

I then used the "Repeat commands". Melee characters attacks the remaining group of ennemies but my mages cast at nothing (spells wasted)

Hello mike,

darn, those spellcaster aren't to be trusted.
No kidding, I will look into this asap. The Repeat command should at least target an existing / remaining group automatically.

Similar to this, if lets say we have 4 random monsters.. And i set my 4 melees to well u know.. Melee them and then my casters to nuke em.. If the melees kill the targets, is it possible to have the casters not fire their spells? (in all honesty mu casters tend to go first anyways... However sometimes a group they have targetted does die before they launch... Maybe the first caster killed em..) however it all turns out.. If a target group isnt there any more for whatever reason, can we not waste the sps?

Additionally if you use farther foe and send em out of range.. Then imo thats your own damn fault, still waste the spell points...

Im not sure how that would work with the coding but it sure would be nice :)

1. the "Repeat Commands" will set any cast action to nothing with the next update, meaning that you have to set a new command for the next round. I know that some of you surely might want to see an "Autocombat" option with intelligent A.I. ... but this is not planned ;-)

2. Of course it would be nice to have your spellcasters stop spellweaving when there's nothing left ;-) It's hard for magickers to determine if an enemy is really dead, you know... I think the way it is implemented now adds to the combat tension, because if useless commands would be cancelled before they waste SP, you surely would throw in the heaviest spells you have every time, making the game not as fun as it is now.

That said, don't go mad on me, please :-)

Lol would never do that Mario, you make sense and its your game..

So we will just have to deal with it much like we have up to now :)

These are some of the same issues I was going to bring up also. Like the op stated, once an enemy group is killed if the repeat command is used the spellcasters will just cast the spells on nothing; using spell points.

Maybe you should remove the "Repeat Commands" ?

It was already not playing well with rogue (no hide then attack).
Now it doesn't play well with mage (no repeat in casting spell).

If you think it makes things too easy or that the command isn't useful anymore, remove it !

And no I'm not mad at you, just being pragmatic ;)

Yes, indeed. With the new Charge! Command, the "Repeat Commands" function is pretty useless / makes no difference.
I will think about it, thank you for your input :-)
