If you push Dunkellich back to 90 feet, he just stays there trying to cast Mage Maelstrom, for which he doesn't have enough spell points. This makes the combat trivial after you kill the bloodsuckers - hide in shadows to 90 feet, attack till you are exposed, repeat as necessary.

Yeah, it trying to cast the spell and not having the spell points to do it has to be a bug, I forgot about that one, but I experienced it also. He wouldnt need to advance if the spell actually worked as it has the range.
