First off, I love the game and am thrilled about the expansion. That being said, I have a few comments/suggestions and some things I think are mechanical flaws in the game's combat system.
General difficulty:
Admittedly, I have not hit the planes area, but I have hit most if not of the areas up until then, like the old bonehouse, lair of morthammr, the deep mines, and all the areas in between. With the exception of a few boss type mobs, I feel there are too many areas recycling old monsters that are easier than the inferno monsters. I would think most people playing in the expansion completed the regular game and can navigate the inferno and coast lands with relative ease, so I was surprised to see this many areas with lesser monsters. Areas like coldstone and silver mountain top (at least the part I can get to) and even the deep mines show up later and have even easier monsters. I can see a few areas like this, but a logical progression would have been better I think.
Saving throws:
Some monsters just use spells all the time (example festering hags). Most of my guys have rings of protection, and all have -39 to -62 saves. No one ever misses a save. There should always be a 5% chance at least of failure, or the monsters need to try different tactics if the spell, breath weapons, spores, etc.. fails 100% of the time. Since intelligent monsters sounds harder to code, I'd suggest the former. My guys are tough (most nearing level 60), but they shouldn't be immune to everything. Even with one character sporting a -92 armor class, he gets hit sometimes, I would think the saves should be similar.
Heya,
thank you very much for your suggestions.
It's difficult to design maps for characters that can range from level 25 to 99... :)
But I will try adjusting these things.
Kind regards
Mario
Understood, but I think it's fair that a level 25 group should beef up a bit before trying some or even most of the new areas ;). Just like when you hit the bandit cave before you are ready, or get crushed by grove guardians at level 5.
