I made my way through the maze and entered the room contianing the painful lava.
After a few steps all my characters are dead.
(My strongest character has got 467 hitpoints at level 30.)

I did this the easy way:-
I just kept my most powerful mage alive. All the rest I let die. When I got to the end of the lava I just resurected everyone.

Can't remember exactly. I have gone through the game twice.
Both times my mage got 4 or 5 steps between casts of Creo Corpus. The total cost was about 150 MP. I used my Paladin to do most of the resurecting as his MPs are, more or less, useless.

You can keep the whole party alive by casting Restoration as needed every few steps. With about 950 hit points I cast it about four times crossing the lava path to the safe square.
