I'm almost embarrassed. Asking for help this week for items that don't exist, for quests that I finished but forgot about...and after getting my ass kicked earlier this week, I decided to review a few of the DC spells that I never use. DUH! I think one of the first finishers even posted what they used to defeat it, but I'm so stubborn I thought I could do it the hard way. Phew! And in reality, not all that hard...just with the right strategy.
Now I'm sad - sad that it is over! (And sad not to get to keep searching for the Lance of Fury!) Mario, you gave us another exciting chapter in the Silversword saga. I'm going to leave my team as they are, though I may replay it with a totally different team. I have no idea if this has been a profitable venture for you or merely a hobby of passion, but you have done an incredible job with this game! If you need testers or writers for future expansions, you can count me in. Though I don't speak German!
I promise to stay active on the boards, to be a shepherd for those lost in the forest, much as previous players served for me as I was getting back in. (And please share if any areas opened up once we got back to Ruins Camp, a la Ridge Fault last time!)
I followed the advice of many to train up a master thief. If I had it to do over again, I'd probably dump the thief (who was better in the expansion than in the 1.0) for another melee. Though truth be told, I was building up a super DC after not being happy with my conversion of a monk to DC...and I would have loved playing with two DC's had that darned Lance of Fury been out there. In truth, between the two fire staffs and the staff of storms, I probably could have played with three DC's (converted from warriors or monks to keep high melee attack damage) and two AM's. And I know several of you have done it with less. And I still have not needed a bard. But what I like is that Mario added elements to give each class some different values. Better weapons for the bard and thief; awesome armor for the warrior and paladin, and those staffs that allow the DC to do some incredibly nice damage, and the AM's better damage, plus the ring of destruction which was quite useful earlier in the expansion. The alchemy was terrific, especially in non magic areas, and gave my warriors something else critical to do: heal.
I was shocked to abandon two of my seven characters from beating Maruziel, but I simply didn't need the third AM, and my Hunter became obsolete between the Assassine and Dragon's Fury. My monk became the DC, I added the thief (meh), and added another stellar warrior. In truth, the Paladin had less value here too, though still extremely useful. My party to restore balance to the force, err, dragons to Tarnak:
Derrick Rose, Level 78 Human Warrior, 1865 HP, rocking the Axe of Souls, Boots and a mithril-runed Force Shield of Forgus
Maximus the Gladiator, Level 64 Dwarf Paladin, 1480 HP/789 SP, swinging the Silversword
Eowyn the Shieldmaiden, Level 58 Barbarian Warrior, 1417 HP, with a Silversword, Boots and mithril Force Shield of Forgus
Neo the Matrix, Level 55 Dwarf Dragoncaller (converted monk), 1426 HP/736 SP, destroying with the Staff of Storms
Bilbo the Hobbit, Level 58 Master Thief Hobbit Rogue, 862 HP, slicing with the Assassine
Obi Wan Kenobi, Level 62 Elf Arch Mage, 1545 HP/1414 SP, gripping a Firestaff
King Aragorn, Level 61 Male Arch Mage, 1946 HP/1722 SP, wielding a Firestaff
Happy adventures!

Hey Todd,

Thank you very much! :D
It is a hobby of passion, I still have to do my full-time job which makes my boss quite happy
At this point I cannot promise any new expansion, though new areas might open up with future updates. I will keep in mind that you might want to take part in developing something new, thank you again! :)
No german needed here, my english should be sufficient (hopefully).
Kind regards and Congratulations!
Mario
P.S. Congrats for writing the 1000th thread on this board! It's so great to see you all here :D
