is there a way to turn this off? I had it on and now I'm trying to farm an area before moving up.
Any suggestions for killing off Prowlers? I know that the weapons have to be silver to hurt them, but is there anything else?

Turn it of by tapping on the spell effect bar (with the cross icon on it) and it will pop up a screen to see and kill effects. Also you can kill all effects by going to a camp site.
Silver or greater ruins on weapons or gloves of monks, you can also use hesitation, horn of arsyrh, or shock bombs on prowlers etc
