Which to do first?

The Grave Mound is way easier than the Bandit's Cave... However, when you first enter the Bandit's Cave, just hang out near the entrance, save the game and battle some random monsters. You'll get a nice bump in XP if you're able to beat any monsters and the loot is pretty good. I wouldn't explore the whole area of the Bandit's Camp and I would have "Traveller's Ditty" playing as I explored and looted chests... After a few levels go to the Grave Mound and finish out that area. The one thing that is difficult about the Grave Mound is that a lot of the "melee" monsters hit for effects (i.e. Old, Poison, etc.) and are coupled with "casting" monsters... Just something to be aware of.

Agreed, the grave mound is a bit easier IMO, but not as good a place to level as many monsters seem to make your characters OLD.

Great, thanks. I tried the grave mound after arriving at Savage Crossing and got deaded a couple of times by the guardian spirits etc, so I tried the bandit's cave and didn't get far there either, but it has given me a boost in XP, so I'll try the grave mound again.

A nice way to level up in the cave is to :
1) go down
2) walk up to the bridge in front of central temple (jsut turn left and move 5/6 blocks
3) you 'll find 17 melee lizzards: with spell push than back, than roast them with spells.
4) wall back to the exit
5) exit, reneter and repeat.

10K each time with good probbability of magical items

you can do endless, untill you kill the boss of the level

I wasn't able to finish bandits but I could do the grave mound.
