...does anyone know which stats or classes or other variables affect force open? I’m trying a rogueless run right now and while combat is much easier it’s starting to get old force opening a chest for 10 minutes lol. I was thinking if it’s strength I’ll just focus on that with whatever class gets a bonus (if any do) or maybe it’s strength + luck?

I'm pretty sure it's just strength. Luck helps reduce damage taken from traps. My low-luck Paladin brute was usually able to force open random post-battle chests when my rogue was KO'd and I didn't want to spend spellpoints on trapzap.

Well it got old fast all those trap zap proof chests. 2-10 minutes real time pressing force open is about 1 min & 30 seconds to 10 minutes too long lol. So I finally got a rogue that occasionally kills an enemy instead of a hp monster that does great damage , oh well.

Could be there’s also a lvl variable in there, and since I don’t like to over level ...

Give the rogue a bow and arrows, and have her hide in the shadows -- at first, just for protection, but later shooting arrows from the shadows. She'll get very good at it. Once you progress far enough, you'll find the Dragonbone Bow and Bone Arrows, massive upgrades. Then automatically hiding, then casting Dragoncaller spells from the shadows ......

Have to agree with this. A Rogue starts out something of a liability in combat, but this does not last. Later on with all base Rogue skills plus Master Thief leveled up and converted to Dragoncaller you have a spell casting, back stabbing, lock opening monster with more HP than any pure class front line fighter type, and excellent AC as well, especially if your Rogue started as a Halfling or Gnome. Small characters FTW.
