Love this game. I was wondering if i could finish it anytime soon. I am playing classic play - so no control of where my points go upon level. The inferno was crazy lol. I had to make a spreadsheet on excel to map the see through wall that said ouch, and the teleporters ugh! I got through that, but since my characters are all between 45 and 50 the lava was difficult. I finally managed to kill Maruzial today and was happy. I was on a 2 hour meeting at work when I mapped out the inferno maze.

Then I spent quite some time getting through the dragon tower. It was a pleasure to finally complete. I bought the expansion today and can't wait to spend the next few weeks working over that torture

I just want to give Mario props for making me realize how much I missed bards tale etc. I remember when I was about 13 and playing wizardry I on my apple ][+. I never made a map, i memorized all the maps (go Werdna).

This game has brought back so many memories and anyone that has played the old Ultima's, bards tales, wizardries, might and magic... OMG i never thought such a great game could come to the Iphone.

SO thanks again Mario, and thanks everyone for the tips and tricks for making this game so amazing.

Hello Esox,

thank you very much for your kind words.
I am so happy that I've managed to bring back those memories... if you have any ideas, any things that you'd like to see in the game, just send me a message. I am not finished with the game yet, and I am working on some new maps and stories right now, so I am open for anything ;-)

Have fun with the expansion

Kind regards
Mario

Mario,

Glad to hear you are not finished with this game! It is by far the best game out there in the app store. I check your web site once a week or more to see if there is anything in the works. Last update was a month ago so I was worried that you were through with this game. I look forward to hearing more about future updates!

Craig from Texas

Well, I have not much time right now so the work goes very slowly.

Kind regards
Mario

Ok - I LOVE the new expansion I'm playing.

I was in watertop - By the ruins - where those horrid plants are - I killed them. Then went on past the secret door by chest, and was fighting the 35 prowlers. I had only 3 people in my party, with runes silver or beyond (my monk had a bronze) so it took me forever, but I accidently hit flee when I was down to 7 prowlers. SO then I went and grabbed a knuckleduster from bank and slapped an electrum rune on it for my monk. Went back to those prowlers with determination. I was happy to see my monk was hitting anywhere from 3k to 7k. The fight went superb and didn't take long to grab the next bard song. I've been using that in inferno - trying to get the good throwing weapons back from where I accidentally fleed. Anyways - still loving the game, and it's hard at times. I remember the old school games, when I didn't have internet, so I'd have to consult with friends or just figure stuff out :)

Mario you throw some twists into this game, and I love it. Get a message that says there is a secret, run in and grab a chest, but then there was a secret wall by the chest. Devious, insightful, LOVE it. I do wonder how many people could finish this game without the internet :)

One thought - make runes so that you can un enchanct. It would be nice to keep weapons you love, and upgrade them with new runes as your progress through the game. Make it double the cost of enchanting the item, but would be a nice touch.

Keep up the great work!

Or perhaps make it so you can upgrade your enchantment, replacing a rune with a higher level rune when you find one...

Ok - I finished the expansion - so fun. Enjoyed it immensely. I still feel like playing, but nothing really to do.

I actually finished the game with the characters that were the default characters in the party when I started.

I did add a hunter before I finished the first expansion, and I really utilized the hunter, but ditched the hunter when I was trying to decide who to make a DC. I ended up choosing the master thief (one trick I learned to level up thief mastery was to find a fight that exists even with the paladin spell crusaders path on. I chose those 20 rats in the tower by the castle. I had only the rogue, and would hide until 90 feet, then run. I would move one step forward and have the 20 rats again, so it didn't take too long to get mastery to 99%. Plus you never get hit because you are hidden at the start of the fight.

When i defeated expansion my party consisted of:

level 64 paladin
level 65 bard
level 65 monk
level 27 DC - formally rogue
2 level 65 AMs

I have boots of speed, and on my monk, with paladin buffs, omg - 115 AC. Though they were on my DC until I beat the expansion.

One thing I'd like to see, is that the recall of Arsth still be enabled. I was gonna go cruise around silvertop where he's marked at, but it said the spell was unusable anymore :( Please add that back.

One of the coolest things about the expansion were the "red" or named mobs that show up and you see their remaining health percentage. One fight took me a completely long time to finish and I learned something. The spell Zyrak's Trench sucks when cast upon your party. I never used that spell until that battle. I made awesome use of it on the final battle, and probably would have struggled to finish final battle without it. I did fail a few times on final battle, namely because I wasn't watching my health close enough and healing. I did die several times, and ended up summoning an astral dragon which seemed to help dealing with the virus and what not. It was challenging, and I loved it.

I suggest (well first off letting us still use recall of arsyth even after winning) and second making a new region/zone that is dealing with these named mobs (the ones with percentage/red - like the defiler). Make something like the planes of power, or something to appease the fan base. Make drops like more mithril runes, and even better armour than what currently exists. Make progression harder, so that if you fail 10 times, and you go grab 5 more levels on your party it's potentially doable.

Love the game - sad to see i've completed it, and looking forward to anything else that will be sent our way :)

Hi Esox,

thank you very much :-)

Already working on some new zones. I am still travelling the Planes Of Powers in my dreams, so maybe they will give some inspiration... ;-)

Kind regards
Mario

I can help test whatever you are dreaming up Mario :) This is actually a better game than the original Bard's Tales and so much more clever. I applaud the presentation, bard music, the humor, everything. You have done such a great job for people like me who missed the original games we grew up with. If you need anything from me, please let me know. I want to keep the dream alive - I remember a few years back signing a petition to let EA - or whoever owns bards tale rights now, to re-release it.

Love the work you do, love the game and eagerly await anything new that comes my way!
