Electrum runes, how do you use them? - ID: 1319

i'm playing the game, and i am around the part where i go through the lost woods to karilan andur.
i was spending a lot of time grinding in the mountain ridge fault for loot..
and i found a few electrum runes.
how do i use the electrum runes?
i know where the dwarven smith is.
i know how to enhance my gear with runes.
i have used bronze runes, silver runs and gold runes to enhance my gear.
but when i put an electrum rune in my inventory, and i go into the dwarven smith, there is no option to use it.
i click on every piece of gear my toon has and the electrum rune does not appear to be usable.
does the elecrum rune only work on a narrow specific set of items?
is the electrum rune only for people that bought the expansion?
is this a bug?
There is another Dwarven smith you need to find.
You may use an electrum or a Mithril rune on anything you can use a lesser rune on.
thanks for responding...i actually found it about 20 minutes after posting this, i was practically right outside the room it was in.
