Hi,
I'm stuck with the Silver Mountains training area. They refuse to train me for lack of standing with the protector of the realm.

-I have done the monk quest, shrine in SM South has opened (some thread here says this would trigger the academy training)
-I am accompanied by the hatched baby dragon
-Walkthrough says you should go to the shrine with the dragon, give a diamond and do some quests to kill orcs to get access to the planes. But I can't get this quest, Guardian of the Planes just lets me pass when I come with the dragon in the party
-I have been back to the dragon grave, also no new quest opening up.

Explicit spoilers welcome, I have one more week of holidays to finally wrap up the game :)

you need to visit the building directly across from the shop in the gateway to the planes and donate 1 diamond.

Doing that will allow you to be trained in the silver mountains. Once you have passed the planes guardian once there is no need to keep the baby dragon in your party. Having your party trained in he different combat stances is not necessary to complete the game. It is just another option.

Thanks be to Zeus! I did a few things ahead of time, and this was one of them. At the end, I had no idea what purpose was served by doing what was in your spoiler. Now I know! My opinion is that while it is not required, it is worth learning the various stances, and that adjusting a character's stance was simple and well integrated into the game.

I also do not know what would have happened if I had not entered the west wind control (?) into maintenance mode while I was exploring the silver mountains. I guess that I would have been unable to do something inside the ship, but I'm not sure. Sometimes doing things out of order can be as confusing as the puzzle itself! 8-)
