Those are likely alchemist spells, you need to learn/buy the skill alchemy first, and then only some are available until you use it more.

I'm sure I'm missing something really obvious but when I go to train new spells I see something like who wishes to receive new knowledge (or something like that) and when I select a character no option to train a new spell is given.
Again, I'm sure I'm just missing something, just not sure what it might be.
