FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

This topic was started by Ashwheeler1983 on 16/03/2015, 16:43:32

Hi,

Ive never played this type of game before, could anyone give some advice/tips about how to play etc. Ive enjoyed it so far but im not completely sure what is what yet. Ive seen the walkthrough but i dont want to use that as i dont want to spoil the gameplay.

Thanks

Hello,

welcome to the game :-)

The party represents a group of adventurers (up to seven) who must explore the surrounding world in search for tasks they have to complete. All options are explained in the manual, so it's worth a look.
If you are unsure about a specific game mechanic, I will try to help you.

One hint: many things are meant to be explored - even with the walkthrough you will have to find out on your own how everything works. You are encouraged to experiment with different characters, spells and approaches to problems.

Kind regards
Mario

Ok sorry for the NOOB questions, this genre is new to me. Final Fantasy is about as close to this as i have come before. Im enjoying it so far though.

1) I leveled up last night so i went to training hall and rolled new stats, i saw the change class button, am i right in thinkning that is for my casters and if so when is good time to change class? Would i be right ing in thinkning the eariler the better?

2) In regards to levelling, what is the best method for levelling, i assume grinding out some kills is the best method?

3) Weapons stats 1d6+1 rng 1..... does this mean 1 role of a six sided dice and then add 1 to what ever the result is? Rng1... does that mean it is good for 11ft instead of 10ft the case of a sword for example?

4) And just to confirm,
the lower the AC the better, so if i managed to get a characters AC to -1, that would be good?

Im sure ill have more questions at some point.

Thanks

On a side note, i realised last night that certain trees can be walked through......this has opened up a whole can of worms :D

It is for your casters, correct. You can change class upon reaching level 5 and buying spell levels 2 and 3. But you can't change back later, so some people prefer levelling to 13 (then you are able to buy all spell levels). The manual has some details for this.

<QUOTE>[quote] 2) In regards to levelling, what is the best method for levelling, i assume grinding out some kills is the best method?

Generally, yes. Some quests and chests will give you XP, but killing enemies is the best method indeed.

<QUOTE>[quote] 3) Weapons stats 1d6+1 rng 1..... does this mean 1 role of a six sided dice and then add 1 to what ever the result is? Rng1... does that mean it is good for 11ft instead of 10ft the case of a sword for example?

A remnant of old pen and paper roleplaying times. Yes, 1d6 means: a random number between 1 and 6 is determined by the game. 1d6+1 something from 2 to 7.

Rng1 means: Range 1 (10 ft.). Only usable from within the first four character slots. Slots 5-7 need at least Range 2 (20 ft.) weapons.

exact.

Go ahead :-)

As I said... feel free to explore :-)
