FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

... after having finished the expansion a few days ago.
1. Killed the bands of orcs in the mountains, but the quest line does not continue.
2. There is a lonely hut in the SE corner of Crystal Sea (IIRC?), locked by magic. Looks it's not used by the game atm.
3. Hidden chest in Miner's Deep Level 1, with 4 secret doors around it, but not accessible. There is another one at the level with the Cogwheel seller, just behind him, not accessible.
4. Lardo lost his buckler - but where?
5. I found the harp for the lady, but now I can't find the lady anymore?
6. There is a secret area, around 6x3 blocks, just E of the entry point of Tarasz Tunnels (IIRC), can't get there. You can "walk on water" through an entry point very east of it, but then you can't re-enter land.
7. I found different mushrooms (Shiitake etc), but only found a mage in need of Portobellos sofar.
8. I guess the Staff of Lazarus and the Lance of Fury do not exist.
9. Is there any other melee weapon for Paladins/Warriors with a dmg comparable to the Axe of Souls? (Assassine is restricted to my Rogue, Singing Sword to Rogue/Bard.)
If somebody could give me small hints, I would really appreciate it, thank you. ;)
Best regards and thank you very much, Mario, for creating such a fine little gem of old-school CRPGing!
2, 3, and 6 are areas that may be expanded later, but for now are just red herrings as far as I can tell. I believe any harp and buckler will do, but the rewards are minor if I remember correctly. A good trick when you get a quest is to either mark it on the map or if you have enough DCs set a recall point there, until you solve the quest. I think you are right about the lack of high damage weapons for some classes, although remember the bow and stone arrows. Most of the mushroom types don't seem to have a use (yet, anyway).
I found it fun to replay in the other two modes: modern and legend. It's also fun to have 4 master thief rogues in the front ranks (but a lot of work getting them built)...
Thank you for your reply.
I read your walkthroughs (very good work, especially the RotD walkthrough helped me a lot), and the 4 master thief DCs in the front row are surely great. BTW, I converted my hunter into a DC, besides his crits especially with the dragon bow he had not much to offer later in the game. The bard critted as well with this bow, so...
I played the game in '"modern" mode, and after some hours of grinding at the fixed plants encounter (Watertop) & Old Bonehouse I really felt *way* ahead of/above the game's difficulty curve for the rest of the game. The Plane Dragons, the Cyborg, the Defiler & friends - no real challenges.
Best regards.
