FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

This topic was started by juzanlord on 29/12/2011, 00:08:30

Now,
of course song are good, expecially the life one, but during combat bard is almost useless at hight level.

he have no multiple hi moltiplier, so he can do 25 dammage, while monk paladin and war can do easily more than 200!
and can't be put not in front line becouse mages in other 3 slots are much more usefull.

so, appart from storytelling, is it possible to play the game with

Pally
War
War
MonK
Spell
Spell
Spell

Do I miss something?
thanks for suggestion

In theory you should be able to play with whatever classes u want.... However some combos make the game easier or harder in certain areas... There is no right party set up... As the thread "party make up, whats yours" shows folks have a different idea of what the need..

Myself i have the following

War
Pal
Monk
Hun
Bard
Con/mag/sor
Mag/con/wiz

The bard is awesome in that position using his various horns for extra area effec damage whilst also healing with songs.. And later on using the sp recovery song, buts thats MY way of playing.

Where in the game do you start seeing horns drop? My bard is dead weight in battle.

I've dumped one of my warriors and my rogue and now my party is:
Warrior
Monk
Hunter
Bard
Hunter
Conjurer
Magician

I use two hunters as their ability to crit I think will become more valuable in later stages than having another warrior type character. Any thoughts appreciated.

Petrov.

I started seeing horns in Lost Temple and maybe Druid Burial Mound (I think I got one here). I got 3 in Lost Temple. I noticed if you save game before opening a chest that has an item, if u reload, different item can appear with each reload.

Thanks, went to the mound and had three drop already. Thanks!

To all:

Read my Intro Guide on the Bard Class. I think the character can be very useful. Keep in mind that the class isn't required to finish the game but they can be very useful for the right party mix:

Here's my beyond #1 reason I'd never drop my bard from my party (incl if I play game through again)

For dungeons that are no-save zones or simply times when I only have a few mins to play and I want to complete an objective, the Traveler's Ditty song is simply amazing. Being able to flee from encounters that aren't optimal, allowing me to avoid using up massive spells points to win or to avoid dying or to simply save time on non-strategic high-cost encounters...is simply amazing.

Out of the other classes in my party, none can replicate this Ditty.

Having so many horns now, the bard can keep up AoE damage, which is fantastic, since my casters can't always just blow mana all the time (there are parts of game so far where # of H gems I have in inventory are low cause I've been away from camp so long in a no save zone where there are areas that just eat mana as traps).

The health and mana restore songs aren't bad either.

I still have no idea what the Reason song does. Maybe dispel illusions?

The bard is pretty usefull IMO. Traveler's Ditty and the song to regenerate spell points are both very useful IMO.

Travellers Ditty and Angels Harp and some of the higher level horns make a bard invaluable. I'd take one for Travellers Ditty alone...
