FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

This topic was started by Ballstomper on 09/08/2011, 04:19:09

Need help. I'm in the watchtower dungeon and am at the secret door that requires a tool. Ok cool...which tool? Tried staff dagger torches and can't seem to find the right thing.

Magic mouth- what's the password?

Thanks a bunch

before someone points you directly to the answers, here some more hints:

- the needed tool is hidden in a crypt
- the password has something to do with the old "Ultima" games, namely the third in the series

I cant find the tool,
In what crypt...

note on password: last i was there it wouldn't work unless it was all lower case ...

The crypt is hidden in the forest, you can force your way through some trees near the castle walls outside the ruin camp.

I just tried it with version 1.4 - it is working with a capital first letter as well. If you have any problems with it, please contact me directly.

Mario

Hm,
I cannot find the Magic mouth in the watchtower. I only find a Place with a hint, when i am downstairs on the way to the Goblins. "There may Be a Secret entrance". But I cannot find a doof or the MM in that Area.

Best regards, DQ

The magic mouth we speak of is in the forest, not in the watchtower.

There is a secret wall near the hint, just touch the walls around... and a little bit outside of the room.

Thanks for the hint.
Maybe the Dialog should Be shown Even if you Walk against the Wall. I had no idea, that it is Important to Touch every Wall.
Regards DQ

With the next update (1.5) you are able to just bump into the wall. This will trigger any actions (e.g. chests, secret doors etc.).

Greetings
Mario

There was a question popping up about aquiring new spells.

Your magic wielders will be able to aquire new spells each two charakter levels starting with level 1.

So if someone blast an Orc with an Lv 3 lightning strike he woul be Lv 7.

Regards
Frank

Not quite...

You start with Level 1 spells, get the 2nd Level ones with 3... and the 3rd Level ones with character lvl 5.

Hi Mario,

With the New Version, Walking into a chest doesn't trigger an Action.
Nice New items -thank you.

Another question. The Version ends up at the old Tree asking for the weapon?

Another thought. My Fighter, Paladin, Hunter and bard wear all the Same Heavy armour. Maybe it would Be a good idea To Limit the use of Heavy armour for bares and Hunters.
Greetings dq

Hi DQ :-)

Yes, that's right - the action trigger will come with the next update, stay tuned!
The version ends with releasing the prisoner from the watchtower prison (the final boss has the key), and returning to the armsmaster in Castle Cranbourgh.

You are right, we have to take a closer look at the items. In addition, new skills are planned for different classes so that they differ more.

Greetings
Mario

Hi,

Then i will try to Be patient

Hi folks,

now I need some help. I don't have even a hint like "there is a secret door" in the watchtower dungeon, and I really touched and bumped into every single wall in that dungeon.
I got that staff from the crypt und that strange herb (and the watchtower key^^).

And there is this small tower in the mountains and my rogue can't pick the lock. Any hint where I can find the key? :)

thanks a lot, Polter

The Watchtower with the secret door is, in fact, the "small tower in the mountains" :) You might want to ask the armsmaster at the castle for help before proceeding.

Ah, I see! Now I've managed this dungeon. As far as I can see, I have to be patient 'till the quest against the evil hordes will start with the next update. ;)

Aaarrrrggggghhhhh.......!!

Is there any way to find out password that the MM i asking for? I'm totally lost here... Thanks

The names the mouth mentions are taken from the classic Ultima series. If you aren't familiar with those games, try the Ultima wiki:
.

Boat? Mechanism? Hollow wall? I'm completely stumped.. Just perhaps a clue.. I've explored all areas.. Love the game - finished bards tale with pencil and graph paper in 86' while in the Navy - Great job!!

Hi Mattuse,

there is a (oneway) boat loacted on the underground river below the mountain ridges watch tower.
You might notice there is a hidden mechanismen that can be found in a secret room but I do not want to tell too much.

Probably you have already passed the river and not even noticed any challange? :)

And welcome to the board!

Regards
Frank

Thanks...! Solved it ;-)

Now on to the next issue ;-)

I've found the hidden door near the underground river, but I need an item to open it....? What where who? I've tried everything...

Hi Dannyboy,

this seems to be a problem.
Probably another profession is used to open old stuck doors like a grave robber for example...

Regards.

P.S.: Hope this is hint can guide you to the correct area where to look for the tool.

Hello new to the boards here. Ive been playing the Silversword for a couple of weeks now. I found it just in time,I was in retro mode and playing through BT1 2 and 3 on Dosbox on my PC when the thing crashed on me. I was in a gaming abyss when I came across this lifesaver. I was a bit stumped on some of these areas also. Looks like I have some more exploring to do. Thanks for the Ultima tip because I never got into that series I went from BT to Pool of Radiance and some sequels.

Hello Maximus and welcome to the forums!

Thank you very much for playing and enjoying our little piece of retro software :-)

Mario

Hi,

Is anyone having problems with using bows? I have plenty of arrows, but keep being told that I'm out of ammo?

Thanks

Hello Stumeister,

yes, this is a nasty bug - very sorry for that!
An update has already been submitted and should be ready for download from the AppStore within the next days.

Regards
Mario

Thank you.

Is this also the case with the door (far SE below 4 adjoining northerly doors) on the lowest level of the abandoned tower which does not open? Either that or, I have yet to find the means.

Great game though and I'm looking forward to the full version.

No - that door is closed for now ;-)

Regards
Mario

I want to first say.... Well done! Excellent game. A true gem.

I have finished everything in the lite version, I think. Just anxiously waiting the full version... However, I do have 2 questions?
1. I'm having the same issue with the bows and arrows, where it tells me I'm out of ammo. I understand a fix is under way?
2. Any tips on how to get past the 5 guardians of the grove?

Hello Gwendor,

Thank you very much :-)

1. The fix is already live. With the actual version 1.9.1 your bows should loadable with arrows.
2. They are not supposed to be fought within the first levels. They guard a special path which will be opened in the full version.

Regards
Mario

Awesome game! I played Bard's like crazy as a kid and have recently replayed II and III via DOSBox, which I highly recommend too!!

Quick question as I just started dungeoning, can't seem to navigate back to Gwyddon, any suggestions on location?

Thanks!

Thank you very much Spooks :-)

Gwyddon should await your return just south of the ruin camp, between the water and some walls.

Regards
Mario

Ahaha, well that's embarrassing

I have to say your response time is incredible! I'll play the lite version several times over with different characters to see if I can discover any bugs/fixes/suggestions not previously mentioned as I anxiously await the Xmas full version!

...Cheers...

Ok I am lost or blind. I have wandered through the watchtower dungeon and cave area hitting every wall. I can't find this secret door that is there. Only thing I can find is a barred cell door that I can't open. No mention of a secret anywhere even with minor revelation cast. Please help.... :?: unless I am in the wrong area.

There is an area in the caves where you get a message about the wall sounding hollow. The secret door is near that place, but simply walking into it will not be enough, you'll need an item to open it. I had a hard time finding it too, it's a really secret door ;)

With the new update 1.9.2 it shouldn't be too hard to find the secret door.
The hint has been moved nearer to the door, and you can trigger it by touching or bumping into it.
But it is correct (and intended) that minor revelation won't show it!
