FORUM: Feature Requests

Is there anyway to export a character from an old game to a new game?

There are lots of ideas I've seen from seasoned players that require a certain "head start" to be viable. Ideas such as the single character party of a thief (hiding, striking, hiding, collect massive XP, learn alchemy for healing, become Dragon Caller). I tried this out and got killed repeatedly by the armory rats. Another idea is a small party of casters that rely on summons. It would be neat (and yes, a cheat) to start the game with carried-over advancement in order to both try these things out and RP it from the start of the game's plot.

Kill the armory rats with a full party and then continue solo?...

I was thinking that Instead of starting a new game, you could just have one of your existing characters grab some mysterious herb and spider silk, then give it to your new character, kill the rats, and leave. But that would leave your new character in a world with no quests!  :( Sorry, I think you'll have to follow icetear's advice and play with a full party for a little while.

Yeah, I could always do that!

I was just reading through some of the ideas for different game modes in this part of the forum. I thought a New Game+ mode would be cool, available just to those who have finished the expansion, to experiment with game mechanics. It may add some replay value?

I laughed when my rogue got slaughtered repeatedly by the armory rats, because obviously the scenario wasn't designed for that! I just thought, oh, this isn't going to work! The alternative is to use a party until the outdoor part opens up and then dump the party, grind battles for small fights, save after every fight, etc.

I understand this game was an old project and such updates are unlikely, and even more so for something that impacts just a niche part of the community. Just an idea! To me it feels like this game is just a year or two old, since that's about when I discovered it! And I hope that's taken as a compliment, that in 2020 this could still pass for a newer game!

The game files are still kept up-to-date so that I can publish an update anytime.

BUT: Apple has announced that they will introduce some new policies an app must conform to for it to be published after June/July 2020. This might mean that the game won't get any updates anymore - but I don't know for sure yet. We'll have to wait...

I already have implemented a "what happens after all that" game mode... the idea is:

Once Maruziel is defeated, you have the option of constituting an heir to any active character. The old character then retires and can transfer some items to the new character. For this to work, I have also started to create alternative maps to the original ones... which just show the country some years later. Perhaps I could adjust this mechanism to satisfy your needs.

But obviously the simpler path would be to just add an option "Add a character from a saved game" in any camp ;-)

kind regards
Mario

It's a novelty request, so it's of course not at all critical to enjoyment of the game - my current playthrough will take me several months, as I tend to play it a little before I go to sleep each night (while trying not to let it prevent getting any sleep at night!)

There is one additional feature request I've had on my mind. Many RPG's these days are full "Talkie". Could you, would you, personally provide all the voices for every NPC in the game? I believe this could be done before the new Apple policy takes place!
