Mr. Mario,
Every thought of crowdfunding for this game's expansion or sequel? I know one of your hangups is the loss of an artist, I'm sure they'd come out of the woodworks with a little "incentive"! I think this game would probably bring enough support, lots of people have played it and it's still getting attention. Every once in awhile I crank it out (gonna do a replay soon to give the monk a real go), and even though these boards are quiet lately I'm sure folks are still waiting for Silversword 2!
Hi :-)
Thanks for asking. Right now, there are no plans for making the sequel happen.
So many reasons... with funding being the least one.
I already had a crowdfunding campaign for Silversword 2 running... without success as you might have guessed ;-)
I really hope that Silversword might inspire some coder to remake one of the other grand games of the past.
Wizardry 6/7 be my favourites along with the SSI games.
As for me... perhaps a new spark of inspiration will hit me someday and will give me the strength to create another game. Lootbox was so much work... but I really can't remember how I've managed to put the 100.000+ lines of code for Silversword together. Coding 4-6 hours every day for a year AFTER a regular 8 hours job is somewhat exhausting ;-)
Until then... let's hope for other cool games that will bring back the past :-p
kind regards
Mario
So the story of Silversword is finished? That's heartbreaking, and I'm disappointed at not discovering it years before during the high point! I am shocked that a crowdfunding campaign didn't do well.
That said, of course we thank you for bringing us this legend. Yes, it's a Bard's Tale "clone", but it has become much more to the point where it's legitimately its own thing. I started to replay the Bard's Tale 1-3 remakes and it took me a moment to realize some of the missing features were from Silversword! And don't get me started on Bard's Tale 4, it's horrible.
I understand about the coding, I spent massive amounts of time on things when I was younger (like music in a band) that sounds appealing to get back into, but now that investment of time seems impossible!
If at all possible to "throw us a bone" maybe someday a text-heavy postgame update to Dragons that ties some of the loose ends. ;) But I guess if that never happens, we will have to accept that sometimes we just don't get answers.
Cheers, thank you again for your contribution, you have made a real winner and it's unfortunate that Silversword didn't get the recognition it deserves.
Don't talk about the game (or me) as if it was already buried :-p
I won't promise a thing, but there are already some maps & quests for the flooded islands ready in my drawer...
Hopefully they will make it into one of the next updates!
kind regards
Mario
You're playing with emotions, Icetear! I'll keep a little hope set aside...
I can’t believe you’re still updating, icetear. I’ll drop by the tavern in Annsharbour and raise a glass in your honor - whether we someday see a Flooded Isles quest or not!
