Hi Mario,

I play the game (you know I love it  :) ) and I finished the burial mount. So I don't know, if the observed developement is correct. My Mages changed to sorrcers and leveled quickly, while the other classes wait for level 14. or 15. As sorrceres they get a d8 and catched up in HP with the thief already and it seems, that if they change to AM or wiz they will be as "healthy"as fighters soon. That seems a bit odd to me, though the strength of the casters isn't bodybuilding.  ;)

In my opinion the HP of the casters should be reduced - I love asking for less
Maybe the casters should only gain one HP per Level until they reach the level, when they change. For example a mage changes at Lv. 13 to sorc.. Then the sorcerer should gain 1 HP per Level until he reaches Lv 14. At lv. 14 he would gain d8 plus the bonus on constitution. (I think wizardry used that type of leveling after a classchange).
Other possibilities would be, that they only get the consti.bonus or that at least the dice would be a d4 .

I know the question is much about gamebalance, so no easy task.

All this subject has to do with another question that is in my mind: Why only class changes for mages? (If this subject is already discussed somewhere, never mind)

Greetings DQ

Hi Don :-)

Thank you for your thoughts.
There are plans for new classes that will be available not only to casters. But this is in an early stage of development.

As for the hit points... I will think about this.

Mario

For the mid game content yes, spell caster hit points (and even armor class due to all of the stat point raises) are better than the fighter classes, but towards the end the melee classes exceed casters in hit points and armor class (except monks who have meh hp's but crazy armor class). Ive always been leery of "class balancing" though based on past gaming experience. I love Mario's ideas to add subclasses for not only mages. That sounds amazing. I think perhaps class-driven caps on stats might be the way to go. For example, mages with armor classes of -35 or lower is a bit overpowered in my opinion.

NOt sure if this is too far off topic but why only being able to change classes to and not from a class? Like from conj to sorc is ok and from that back to mag but then not back to sorc only on to wizard. Understandably a wizard wouldn't want to go back to a sorcerer but a sorcerer might want to go back and get the later spells of the conj/mag. That should make sense.

I think the reasoning behind this was that the sorcerer and wizard spells are much more powerful even at level 1 than most magician/conjured spells. To keep people from jumping to them as soon as they could, they made it so the xp/level were much higher, and you couldn't go back later to finish those levels. While you certainly can jump to wizard/sorcerer as soon as possible, in the long run it hinders your casters to not have those extra hit points, spell points, and spells.

Yeah that was what i was going to restart my mage for. There a few spells that would make my adventure a little more convenient. But i might be more happy with my wiz/arch mage spells in the end.

Hi Mario,

that sounds great. With the possibility to change classes for the other professions, the HP-balance will probably be fitting.
