I’m trying to dive into this game. I’ve created my own party but I want to strip the starting characters before inserting my own, but I can’t figure out how to.

TIA.

Select an item, then drop it.

Or what exactly is the problem?

If you want to take equipment from the starting characters, just select the character, select the item, and trade it to your real character, who can then trade it to the character you create to replace the one you're getting rid of. (Note: the starting equipment is garbage. You should only bother with this if you have played with the starting party a bit and gotten some decent equipment you want to keep.)

If you want to take their gold before removing them, select your character (the one who will remain in the party) and pool gold. This is an ancient cheat dating back to the original CRPG, Wizardry. You can do this as often as your patience endures and build up a fair amount of money to start the game. Mario works around this by making sure there isn't any really valuable stuff available to you in the shops around Castle Cranbourgh.

If you're not sure how to remove the character after taking their stuff from them, you need to return to camp (the fire icon on the mp, e.g. in the NW corner of the castle) and remove or delete them. (Technically, you can remove them at any time by swiping left on their name, but camp is the only place to create/add your replacement character.)

I’m having trouble even finding the equipment.

I’m sorry for not being more clear.

Sorry for taking that for granted. Tap on the character in the party list, and when you see their stats in the top right pane, either tap the left/right arrows next to the X or swipe left/right to display different panes. The available panes vary depending on the character's attributes, but include Combat stats, overview, Inventory, Known spells (or Known songs in the case of a bard), and Known skills (for rogue lock picking and hiding, alchemy, monk chain attacks, and possibly others I am forgetting about.

Inventory is the one with the equipment list, where you can equip, drop, or trade equipment.

Thanks man.

I’ve been really looking forward to this game, but my schedules been so hectic.

I know once I learn the ropes I’ll be good!
