FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

This topic was started by Foenix on 26/11/2012, 15:26:18

So being a new player I'm curious about a few thins.

I've seen a lot of talk about saving/reloading on level ups to get the stat increase you want. Is this necessary to win the game. I've always taken more of a what you role is what you get approach.

How many people are actually having problems with spell point regeneration. I haven't had any issues and stumbled into a way to heal spell points early on.

Is it pretty typical to full all seven party slots? Anyone play with fewer then seven?

Anyway excellent game thanks.

You can play with what you roll is what you get. However, you 'll probably have to grind even more to get your characters high enough in HP to survive some of the challenges. The game can be played with that approach, successfully, though.

I played through fully the first time with a six character party. This lets you use and summon monsters to fight alongside your party members.

I am currently playing 3 Archmages only. This party could play through by itself, but that makes the "end game" tough.

When the next expansion comes, I'll go with my normal party of BA, PA, HU, RO and 3 AMs. As you know I strongly recommend rolling up one of each class plus two or three magic users, then play swapping them in and out of your party at the camp or inn until you find the characters you like best for your style. One of the beauties of the game is that any mix will work as long as you have at least one or two casters and one character to use a weapon in your party.

I played with 6 slots so I could summon each of the available monsters when the time came. This also gives each party member more XP when you don't have the 7th slot filled. Having a monster in the front line protected one of my party that was then pushed to the back. I never cared about the monster dying.

I played the get what you roll way until I stumbled on the save and re-roll strategy here on the forum. I changed my approach and started re-rolling only on useless rolls otherwise I took it.

Actually, letting monsters in the Inferno join your team is sort of fun for a while. They can be tough to calm when they turn hostile, though...
