FORUM: Feature Requests

This topic was started by Magabeus on 10/11/2011, 09:42:50

Hi,

As my party made short order of anything we met, I was a bit lazy in making my saves, of course that was when I found this fountain and a bunch of guardians of the grove who made mincemeat of my party. Nice thing about that was that i saw the way you handled the screen of death, which caused a huge smile. Unfortunately now I need to retrace a lot of steps.

Therefore my request for an autosave. I would like an autosave on every load of a map which overwrites the previous autosave.

Hello Magabeus,

the game is autosaved after each combat right now. Putting an extra save upon loading a new map would be a nice addition, indeed. I will think about this and put it in a future update, ok?

Hi Mario

Thanks for the quick reply!
Implementing this autosave would be nice, "problem" with autosave after each combat is that when there is a total party kill, the party stays dead.

Hello Magabeus,

the autosave was implemented to help recovering after the app crashes for some reason.
The player has to save his game when he feels that a sudden death would mean replaying too much. Maybe this concept of saving and loading is a bit archaic, but it leaves the responsibility to the player.

Relying on autosave to have the possibility of recovering every time things go bad is not a concept I like, to be honest ;-)
Letting the player decide when it's the right time to save increases tension, fun, and responsibility (i hope).

Mario

Hi Mario,

I get (and appreciate) your view.

However, as a player, i like to really get into the game, having to think about saves takes me out of the game, so reduces the fun I have. Not that big a deal, but it is there anyway.

Kind regards,

Magabeus

Hi Magabeus,

agreed! I just implemented it, it should be live with the next (not the upcoming one) update. :-)

Wow! You are fast!

Thanks,

Magabeus
