FORUM: Gossip - The rusty dagger tavern

This topic was started by Tbone on 27/12/2011, 18:44:16

Does anyone who has made it pretty far have suggestions for which items to apply runes to? I have collected several of them, but since it is so permanent I want to make sure that I save them and apply them to weapons and armor that I will keep around for a while, but I also don't want to stick a little bronze rune on a powerful weapon that I might be better off saving for Mithril rune. Or are the runes so plentiful later in the game that it is silly to worry about this?

Bump. Also wondering about this

I had noticed that armor seems to be the better choice for the Runes. In the later half of the game when you are getting 'Steel' armor drops (gloves, helmets) the extra toward saves from spells is more beneficial than the extra to hit on weapons. Later on, you rely more on your spell casters to do damage rather than hand to hand melee. But that's just my opinion. And no, I have not experienced an abundance of rune drops later in the game. Right now, I'm waiting for my dragon egg to hatch.

Rune drops seem fairly rare. I have found two Mithril runes in the Inferno. I have also found bronze there, which leads me to believe you can find them all in the Inferno. You can also get bronze, silver, gold and electrum runes in the Dedarant Caves.

I put the Mithril runes on "of Forgus" armor. I agree that augmenting armor seems better than augmenting weapons. Mithril on armor adds 5 to AC and Save as well.
