I (think) I ‘ve finished the bandit cave, the burial ground, and the Druid temple and yet I can't go further south. I get a message that “Further Passage is not Possible.”

I would really like to wrap up this part of the story and move on... what am I missing?

You never get past that message. (Eventually the road wardens will escort you past that, but only after you've found the hidden base of the thieves guild in Annsharbour.)

You get the symbol when you kill the master of the Bandit's Cave, Jacob Sprenger. (sp?) That's a (usually) tough fight in the center of the cave. You'll know it when you find it.

You will need the symbol and the shard of nature for the next part of the game.
