I had the same dilemma. Here are a couple of options.<br/>
<br/>
1. Warrior with 8-10 attacks makes a great DC. That's what I did. I have mine standing at position 5 with the Staff of Storms, doing 20,000 Hp of damage from the back ranks.<br/>
<br/>
2. Monk will lose the chain attack ability, alas, but armed with the Silversword can still critically hit. I left mine a monk using the Silversword on chained attacks.<br/>
<br/>
3. Rogue with high enough master thief ability will still be able to pick locks and won't need the lock pick. I'm not sure about hiding, though -- that might be an ability they lose. Many past players have raved about a 99% master thief rogue becoming a DC.<br/>

Bard songs are useful, esp. Spirit Chant, but it's the horns that make the bard. Leave your bard a bard.

They lose the “hide” option but retain “auto-hide” at the start of battle.  “TrapZap” for chests!

I already thought about dropping my Paladine and train a new Character. With every tour to bonehouse I make 2 Million Exp, so it won’t last long.

Do you have 3 casters?  I think you wrote earlier that you do.  In that case, if you’re thinking of replacing the Pally, create a Dwarf or Gnome (depending on racial benefit preference for DC) Warrior, start with max Dex and Con, raise Con first, and level up your character to at least 40.  (I believe 32 gets you over the stat limit hurdle, you’ll want to bring your IQ to 24, and level to multiples of 5 for racial benefits.)   Once your Warrior has 24 IQ, dump all future level up stats into Dex.  With a higher AC and more HP your DC will be fine in the front ranks.

Once you make the change, just keep pumping points into Dex to build the AC back up.  With 24 IQ, you'll get the max MP bonus on leveling.

Go somewhere with many encounters of low to moderate risk, like Horon's Sanctuary or the Old Bonehouse, and just have your rogue hide every round of every encounter. When I was grinding, I would literally let weak monsters attack my melee characters (I would just defend) to prolong the encounter so my rogue would have a chance to hide eight times per encounter. You start hidden at 20', then 30', etc. Getting to a higher number increases your skill points.<br/>

I think the highest I ever got was 30-40% and saw no need to go further. My rogue could open 10-light chests and started encounters hidden, which was all I really needed.

Are you accumulating practice points? You need to visit the training center in Watertop to have the % go up. I think for every 100 practice points you can go up 1%.

Did Visstar’s advice solve the problem?  I didn’t think to mention, it’s like a level-up, you have to return to Watertop to get training.<br/>

Also, I just noticed you named your characters what their class is!  I used to do that with the old Wizardry games.

I just killed the loom in Darkwell. Just one round to kill him without magic. I got a second pair boots of speed, now my DC ist AC-75 and the First to Hit. With about 60.000 hitpoints  :shock:

Just one week from the moment I trained a warrior to become a DC - and now I finished the game with nearly 800M points...<br/>
<br/>
In the end i have to say that my team was much to strong. <br/>
<br/>
Bonfire and Crumble were killed in just one round without and damage, 160 virusses and Verschwörer took some rounds but without any danger. <br/>

800M points?! Yes, I'd say your party was overpowered. I remember Efreets and aerial warriors as being tough, and you were knocking out dragons in a single round?  :o <br/>

Now you can rest, get bored, and play the game again with some weird lineup like a single rogue, or three bards and three monks, or something like that. In legend mode.  :D

By the way, xtw, you may have faced more encounters than anyone ever (with the possible exception of wizardz), and I'm wondering:<br/>

Did you ever find a Lance of Fury?<br/>
<br/>
Supposedly it exists, but I never found one. I got one Mithril rune from the monk in the Silver Mountains, but never found another one. I think that and the Lance of Fury must be the rarest items in the game.
