I clearedout the bandit lair and have the amulet of mar-whatever.  However, when I go through the tunnels, into the bad, black area where I assume the exit must be, I am told I need permission from the amulet guy or his high priest. What is going on? Did I miss something? Yes, I have done everything leading up, Orc scalps, etc.<br/>

There is an exit there , just take one more step and bump into each wall

Make sure you're facing the direction you're moving (i.e. move forward onto this square). That should give you the typical locked door options. Then use the amulet.
